Re: Life / on microbes, meetings, and being a sponge
My life condensed into variably interesting posts on the internet
Welcome to Re: Life!
I’m Aaryan—a high schooler based in Sudbury, Canada—and you’ve stumbled on that weird place on the internet where I chronicle my life, thoughts, and the random things I create (from wind turbines to medical devices).
Let’s begin.
What I’ve Been Up To
:// Currently tinkering with electronics at Stanford's lab64 facility. Also growing batches of (non-pathogenic) E. Coli bacteria in my dorm to see if I can get them to produce clinically relevant proteins against Hepatitis E.
More on these soon!
:// Meeting as many professors and scientists here as I can. So far, I've had some amazing conversations with Dr. Todd Coleman, Dr. Christopher Cheng, and Dr. Phil Kyriakakis about their research.
On the side, I've had the incredible chance to interact directly with three Nobel Laureates in the past two weeks, including Dr. Steven Chu, Dr. Guido Imbens, and Dr. Alvin Roth. (An enormous thank you to all of you for humoring the thoughts of a random freshman like me!)
:// Thoroughly enjoying university life! As overwhelming as it can get sometimes, I really do love being a professional sponge. All I have to worry about here is learning as much as I can, and it feels so awesome.
Thought of the Week
From one of my favorite writers, James Clear:
“Good choices create opportunities. Good habits make the most of them.”
When the ball comes your way, will you be ready to swing?
