Re: Life / on hacking, agency, and ultraviolet
My life condensed into variably interesting posts on the internet

Welcome to Re: Life 👋 !
I’m Aaryan — a junior at Stanford diving headfirst into a world of virology, philosophy, and mild sleep deprivation.
You just stumbled into the weird corner of the internet where I chronicle my life. In every post, I share three brief updates, two random lessons, and one idea to reflect on for the week.
Let’s begin.
🎬 Three Brief Updates 🎬
// At Stanford, winter quarter means rain, and rain means everyone on campus holes up indoors (to finish their homework). These days, I’ve been living out of my room—currently reviewing the physics of MRI imaging and recovering from my latest exam on electromagnetism.
// Spontaneously participated in Stanford TreeHacks, built a $10 optical sensor to detect bacteria in contaminated water. (The precision is still horrible but I’m working on it)!
// Learning Japanese, reading some classics (recent hits include Candide, Giovanni’s Room, and Flowers for Algernon). Also preparing for an upcoming karate tournament back in Sudbury!
🎉 Two Little Lessons 🎉
Make Something Heavy
Huge shoutout to Pranav Menon for sending this my way. Best read this month.
The Artist that Saw Ultraviolet
How Claude Monet’s strange eyes revolutionized impressionism
🧠 One Simple Idea 🧠
American author Charles Bukowski on agency:
“I was waiting for something extraordinary to happen but as the years wasted on nothing ever did unless I caused it.”
The only miracle in this world is your own will.
What will you do with it?
Happy holidays,
Aaryan
*p.s. Huge shoutout to Esugen for choosing the cover photo (and being a top-notch radiology classmate)!
