Re: Life / on cramming, making vaccines, and meeting a hero
My life condensed into variably interesting posts on the internet
Welcome to Re: Life! I’m Aaryan.
Till recently, I was a high schooler in the snowy town of Sudbury, Canada. Now, I’m a freshman at Stanford exploring the worlds of biology, hardware, and mild sleep deprivation.
You’ve stumbled on the weird place on the internet where I chronicle my life, thoughts, and the random things I create, from wind turbines to medical devices.
Let’s begin.
What I’ve Been Up To 🛠
// Continuing to translate the idea of a Hepatitis E vaccine into reality. Just gained access to Stanford’s Uytengsu lab, where I’ll most likely be turning bacteria into vaccine-producing factories. See the whitepaper here.
On that note, I’d like to broadcast a massive shoutout to Dr. Engel for graciously agreeing to be the faculty sponsor for this project. I’d also like to extend my thanks to Dr. Greenberg and Dr. Kim for their incredible advice, as always.
// Met with Sal Khan, one of my heroes, after he spontaneously appeared in my classroom for a talk that was scheduled there. As I write this, I’m still riding the high from that moment.
// Studying incessantly for finals. Between waking up, sleeping, and the occasional meal, you’ll find my face stuffed in the 14th edition of Chemistry: The Central Science by Brown et al. Currently stumbling through the Nernst equation and redox reactions (respect to any electrochemists reading this).
Thought of the Week 🧐
A quote from Phil Knight, founder of Nike, that caught my eye:
“There comes a time in every life when the past recedes and the future opens. It’s that moment when you turn to face the unknown. Some will turn back to what they already know. Some will walk straight into uncertainty. I can’t tell you which one is right. But I can tell you which one is more fun.”
The best journey often lies on the path that makes you tremble.
What would happen if you did exactly what scared you most?
Some Housekeeping…
P.S. We’re approaching 1000 subscribers and we need to celebrate! If you have any ideas for what we should do, add them to the comments!
P.P.S. Finally made the time to create a personal website. Naturally, it’s not perfect. But, if you email three bits of feedback to me at aaryanh@stanford.edu, I’ll mention you in the next post!
Till then, keep thriving ;)

since we about to go to 1k subs, here's what i would do if i were you aaryan:
when ur b-day rolls around, every sub should give u $1.00 USD.
if they can't pay up, off the email list u go lol.
that just me lol, why not?? xd
so when u sal khan comes around again, buy him coffee... smart, right?
