Re: Life / on cars, AI, and polymer science
My life condensed into variably interesting posts on the internet

Welcome to Re: Life 👋 !
I’m Aaryan—a junior at Stanford diving headfirst into a world of virology, philosophy, and mild sleep deprivation.
You just stumbled into the weird corner of the internet where I chronicle my life. In every post, I share three brief updates, two quick resources, and one idea to reflect on for the week.
Let’s begin.
🎬 Three Brief Updates 🎬
// April’s here, and I’m back at Stanford after a blindingly quick spring break. Some notable achievements include: competing in our state-wide karate tournament, earning my full driver’s license (finally!), and sleeping sixteen out of twenty-four hours in a day.
// Lately, I’ve been fascinated by DNA sequencing (after discovering nearly all its flaws in my research with viruses). Sequencing is our central tool in biology, and I’m thinking about how to accelerate it with solid-state chemistry instead of biological machinery.
When I’m not in class, I’m teaching myself signal processing math, nanofab design (i.e. for e- beam lithography) and the polymer chemistry of DNA. More on this soon!
// Other than that, I’m busy making the most of my favorite season. So far, I’ve enjoyed catching up with friends, sleeping outside (on actual real-life grass), diving into labwork, and practicing karate in the sun.
I guess we don’t need very much to be happy :)

The Wildest Scatter Plot I’ve Seen This Year
Apparently, a human on a bicycle is more energy-efficient than any animal ever recorded.
🧠 One Simple Idea 🧠
American philosopher Howard Thurman on passion:
“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
Taking the next step isn’t a matter of clarity, but of action.
If you’re honest, you’ll already know your answer.
Take your little step.
